Acne Rosacea
Acne rosacea is also commonly known rosacea. Acne rosacea is a chronic acne disorder affecting both the skin and the eye. It is a skin condition characterized by reddish discoloration of the facial skin, particularly in the area of the cheeks, forehead and the nose and is a complexion disorder that effects adults, mostly women (particularly during menopause), not just teenagers. Blackheads are not a part of rosacea.
Acne rosacea is a dermatosis with unknown etiology. Rosacea is common but often misunderstood condition that is estimated to affect over 45 million people worldwide. Unlike common acne, acne rosacea is not linked to overactive oil glands.
Acne rosacea is linked to a problem with the blood vessels, though research is ongoing. Rosacea is certainly not just a simple skin infection, and it is not contagious. Adult acne rosacea is a lot less common than acne vulgaris, but still affects a lot of adults.
There is no ongoing cure for rosacea. Treatments can ease symptoms. Treatment may need to be advanced over time depending on the response to treatments, and if different symptoms develop.
